You should treat yourself to a facial at least once or twice a month. If you don’t have enough money or enough time to go to a spa to get a facial; I will tell you just what you need so that you can have that extra-special treat in the comfort of your own home.
First I am going to touch on the basics.
The European Facial Steps:
- Cleanse: Wet your face and neck and place some cleanser on your hand and move your hands in an outward circular motion to stimulate circulation. A great cleanser is Peter Thomas Roth Chamomile Cleansing Lotion. Then take a clean washcloth and run it under warm water and gently pat your face and neck – do not pull and don’t rub – for two to three minutes to remove cleanser. Then splash your face and neck with warm water five to ten times with cool water.
- Steam: You can get a facial steamer from a beauty supply store like sally’s or just at your regular Albertson’s or Walmart. If you don’t want to buy a steamer, you can put 1-2 TBSP of loose herbs in a medium bowl (or use prepackaged facial steaming herbs, such as Essential Elements), and pour boiling water on top of the herbs and let cool for 30 seconds. Then place your face 18 inches away from the bowl and drape a towel over your head and bowl to capture the most steam. Do this for 5-8 minutes, pat your skin dry with a washcloth when done. Sensitive Skin – Use lavender, chamomile or rose herbs. Normal Skin – Use lavender, lemon balm or rose herbs. Oily Skin – Use rosemary and sage herbs. Blemished Skin – Use sage herbs.
- Exfoliate: A great product to use is the Peter Thomas Roth Anti Aging Buffing Beads or Peter Thomas Roth Blemish Buffing Beads.
